In this episode Big Ben performs his two hit singles ‘Ovombo’ and ‘Omedi’ live at the Namibian Annual Music Awards 2016 at Ramatex in Windhoek, Namibia. Big Ben also won two awards during the awards, including Best Traditional and the the biggest award on the night – Best Male Artist of the Year.

Big Ben is Namibia’s most celebrated performing artist to date with a track record of concerts filled to capacity. The multi-award winning artist is the Namibian Annual Music Awards’ Artist of the Year 2016. Big Ben makes an effort to stick to his birth country’s ethnic sounds while carefully spicing his music up with urban and international flavors he picks up from rubbing shoulders with other musicians across borders.

The year 2013 saw him win Best Jazz/Instrumentation Award at the Namibian Annual Music Awards 2013 and having attained second position in the Last Band Standing Competition of the National Theatre of Namibia. His performance calendar has been filled with high profile events and festivals such as the Windhoek Jazz Festival where he opened for international jazz star Hugh Masekela.
The year 2014 saw Big Ben on the biggest stages and events in Namibia where he continued to share the limelight with Africa’s best such as Salif Keita, Freshly Ground and Dan Shout.
Big Ben went on to win an Award for Best Song with a Message at the NAMAs 2015 with his single Africa Penduka and added international appearances to his roster such as Manchester, UK.
He continued to persevere and went on to win the most revered tittle of Best Male Artist of the Year 2016.
Big Ben now boasts 7 albums since his first release in 2001. Four of these albums have received Nominations for ‘Best Album of the Year’ including his latest offering ‘Back to the Basics’ at the 2016 awards.
On the corporate circuit he continues to be the brand name that even the most conservative corporate prefers to work with on various projects.
His band, known as The Last Band, is made up of five musicians, Pius Paulus a drummer, Jean-Pierre Ntsika on bass, John Kasinda on keyboards and Sam Batola on Lead guitar and Ben himself as the vocalist while also playing the rhythm guitar and saxophone. But it is not just his band that enjoys performing with Big Ben, and recently Ben was also accredited with performing alongside the renowned saxophonist Will Ramsay when he performed live in Berlin, Germany.
